Description
This distinctive 65/35 Poly/Cotton Rip-Stop fabric shirt is sturdy enough for adventure but dressy enough for the most formal flag ceremony or Trailman Court of Honor.
Very little sewing is required (one-time single Troop Number patch), as advancements are hanging patches on the hidden pocket buttons and quickly replaced embroidered shoulder hoops.
A Trailman will leave the ceremony with his insignia in place. He wonāt need to sew a thing (except for the Timberline and Ridgeline Award if earned)!
Plus, because the same uniform is worn at all ages, it can easily be passed along to younger Trailmen as they grow!
Adult sizes come in two cuts ā the regular cut is a slim fit, and the full-cut is more generous in the shoulders and chest. Please refer to the size chart and measure as stated.

This shirt is available in a slim cut and a full cut option. The slim cut is designed with a slightly tapered fit. If you are between sizes, we recommend you go with the next size up.
How to determine your shirt size:Ā Choose a button-up shirt that fits you well and measure across the chest approximately 1 inch below the underarm. Get the shirt that corresponds with that measurement.

I have followed the sizing guidelines provided. However, I have had to purchase multiple shirts to find one that fits properly. My recommendation for yāall going forward is to provide sample shirts to all of your troop leaders throughout the United States. So then the troops can have a day to try on and then order the exact fit that they are comfortable in. To make things cheaper this sample shirt could be made out of something cheaper without buttons just to ensure that it fits properly. My hopes and prayers are that we do not create a reason to discourage family members and especially young fathers to purchase a uniform for themselves.

I’m on my 3rd shift and hoping it would hit. The sizing is terrible doesn’t match with sizes of other clothing. I’ve spent $34 on shipping and return shipping and am waiting for my third shirt. The torso for the second one fit but the arms are easy too big. This was a common complaint in our troop as we just started our troop and AFK the dads had to buy new shirts. It’s a big financial burden to do these shirts back and forth. I would ask that the manufacturer redesign their sizes.

I am 5ā8ā, 190 lbs. Fairly normal build. Slightly broad shoulders. And like most Americans could stand to lose 5-10 pounds. I normally wear a Large in button down shirts and prefer XL for t-shirts. With these uniform shirts, I tried both Large regular cut and XL slim cut. Large regular cut is what I kept even though too big around the body. The XL slim cut was tight in the shoulders and arms but fit the body like a good shirt should. So I chose comfort over a more tailored look. I do like the fabric better with the new shirts introduced at the 10-year anniversary leadership conference.

I’ve ordered and received an XL slim-cut. In line with other recent reviewers, the shirt overall fits me OK (5’10” and about 180 lbs.). However, the arms are too tight for my moderately muscular build. This is not the shoulders, it is actually my bicep/tricep area that does not fit correctly. If I move to XL full cut the entire shirt is going to fit poorly. Clearly, the available sizing options and guidance for these shirts is sub-par and needs to be re-vamped. Although it might be more expensive initially to use another vendor or more custom options, for many customer it is going to be better than having to repeatedly return and re-order items and/or get them altered locally.

The size chart is useless. I used it to measure my son and purchase accordingly. The shirt should have been plenty big with room to grow. It barely fits him. It is too small. Communication is awful and their shipping costs are insane.

They need to definitely redo the sizing chart. I ordered two shirts for my boys and a shirt for myself. Following the sizing chart provided, I measured the boys and myself and of course none of the shirts fit. The boys’ shirts are like trash bags being way to big in the chest and extending down to their knees. My shirt fit fine in the chest but the sleeves were so tight I could barely get my arms in all the way. For the sake of time and money I just kept the boys’ shirts and donated mine to another fellow who needed one. Please redo your sizing chart to reflect actual sizes of the shirts and add coments about lengths and/or sizes of sleeves. In reading the reviews, clearly a lot of people had the same issues.

We’ve started a new troop in NH. Having read a lot of bad sizing reviews, I ordered one in each size, (except Adult Small Full Cut which was out of stock in Nov ’23 and is out of stock now) and then we had the boys & dad’s try them on, then ordered what we needed and sold off the trial shirts as well.
We’ve recorded the sizes boys are wearing and will just have boys/dad’s try on other’s uniforms to avoid getting stuck with bad orders.
As a bonus ordering as a troop saved the families on shipping.

If you read the reviews, you’ll notice a lot of sizing issues. I won’t go into that. You’ll also see a lot of people say the quality is great. Perhaps that is true of the shirt material itself.
However, whoever is in charge of sewing the buttons and button holes should reevaluate. I’ve had to fix all the buttons on my uniform and my two sons’ uniforms. I’ve had to reinforce the button holes on mine, as they were starting to rip open too big.
Also, I was just looking at a brand new uniform, and the button on the shoulder loop is literally hanging on by a single thread.

I have placed three orders trying to get the right size. Their no-return policy is annoying. For those guessing sizes, don’t order a slim, unless you have toothpick arms and want it tight on your mini-biceps. Order a size down from your T-Shirt size.

Like most every other less than 5 star review, the size of my adult shirt, even with following their measuring guide, doesn’t fit at all. I ordered the large full cut, which makes sense since I’ve worn a size large in every shirt I’ve owned for over 10 years now. It’s weird though because I asked a guy in my troop who’s approximately the same height and build as me what size shirt he ordered, and he got the adult large full cut. I tried his on and it fit great, which leads me to believe that there is a significant inconsistency in the production. I’m returning the large and I’m going to try to order a medium and hope that fits. However, my son’s youth shirt fit good enough he can wear it without looking ridiculous, but also have room to grow.

I found out why most volunteers don’t wear it or if they do most are so baggy the short sleeves come down to their forearm. Poor quality shirt that is uncomfortable and cut and stitched so the shoulder loops are at your back instead of the top. I tried three sizes and finally gave up and just deal with being uncomfortable and only wear it when I have to. The size charts are way off and if you lay out two of the same size shirts according to their tags, they are different. You offer 17 different sizes but almost everyone’s shirt doesn’t fit so maybe reduce sizes and focus on quality.

Picked up the new version of the troop uniform shirt during the 2023 Nationwide Leadership Convention and was impressed that the materials and fit were improved. I wear a FC XL and the old version was like a tent with the sleeves and body super big …. also the collar buttons were incorrectly placed- looked sloppy all around. The new version XL FC has a more athletic cut and looks sharp. Also, the logo stands out much more – Nice job! BTW- the hats are improved to

Like the title states, the sizing of the shirts run small. I took the correct measurements of my boys and the shirts wouldnāt even fit at the shoulders. Needed to return 1 and order a much larger size for my oldest.

Let me preface this with I love the look of the uniform shirts and they seem to be high quality. I do not have any issues with the appearance or quality of the product.
I first ordered the XL FC because I typically wear XL shirts in everything else. The XL FC fit me like an oversized army tent. This was MY FAULT for not taking measurements. I then took an XL button up shirt that I wear all the time and got exact measurements, and it was almost exactly the measurements of the XL SC. When the XL SC shirt came in, it fit through the chest and shoulders perfectly as expected due to the measurements, however, they made the hemmed sleeve holes so tiny, I don’t know how any adult man could comfortably fit his biceps in them. I don’t have big arms and they are so tight that it is very difficult to take the shirt off over my arms. The measurement chart is misleading, as it does not mention that the arm holes are SIGNIFICANTLY smaller. It only says the shirt has a tapered fit and gives updated measurements for the chest and shoulders.
That being said, customer service was very helpful, and contrary to what it sounds like on the website return policy, you CAN return uniform shirts.

Shirt fit perfect in the body and was typical of the size that i ordered (xl slim). However the sleeves not so much. The sleeve openings are way too small, mabe 4 in diameter opening if that. If i wear the shirt I’ll have to find a way to modify the sleeves.

The sleeves on the L area a little too snugā¦ and thatās not because I have big arms. Iām pretty average sized. It would be nice if there were free returns because you donāt have any way of knowing if the shirt will fit or not, even with the measurements. (I know Iām a product of Amazon free returns, but for a $45 shirt, it would be helpful, especially when it is a uniform that my son nd I will be wearing for years to come). Otherwise, I love the uniforms! They are super sharp looking and I love that they are rip stop fabric.

All 3 shirts were made very well. The sewing and material seems sturdy. However, one of the buttons was broken in half and my husbandās shirt is too tight in the arms to wear. He matched the XL slim measurements perfectly but no way of knowing the arms would not fit. With shipping a flat $10, I am debating if I should take it to a seamstress and try to figure it out on my own

We purchased a YS due to the reviews (both in our troop and online) that the shirt sizes run very large.
These sizes are accurate for youth sizes and should not be confused with smaller child/kid sizes.
There do not seem to be any options for my just now five-year-old whom we always want a uniform for, so the YXS will be several sizes too large I imagine.
However, the YS slim was perfect for my tall and thin 13, almost 14-year-old son. It was actually a smidge too perfect as I will need to replace it with a larger size for next (school) year. Honestly, if he grows any over the next few months, the shirt might be too snug for him.
If I were to guess at their sizes, based off of purchases at The Children’s Place and other children’s clothing stores, I would guesstimate that YXS is a size 6/8, YS is an 8/10, YM is 10/12 and YL is 12/14. I hope this review helps as you make your purchase.

The overall fit of the shirt is great for my size (6’7″, lean build). The quality of the materials is top notch and do expect it to last for years.
My only gripe is that the arm hole opening is small/very tight for me. I think in addition to a “slim” cut they need a “lean” cut for those with more muscular arms.

The length of the shirt is very long. The chest seemed okay, and the sleeves were big too. Be careful when you order. I got a small adult and it went down to my kids knees, but the chest was okay. Even though the chart said it was close to the same.

For people who want the shirt to fit well order the slim cut. However, realize the shirt fits an athletic build great EXCEPT for the arms. I ordered the medium slim cut.
I’m a weightlifter but certainly not a bodybuilder by any means. My arms are 14″ unflexed and 15.5″ flexed and the sleeves on this shirt were so tiny I couldn’t get my arms into the sleeves. I ended up taking the shirt to a tailor to have the arms let out.

I bought a medium full-cut, as I tend to fit medium-sized shirts/jackets/etc. consistently; rarely going up to a large with various brands. But the medium full-cut ended up being considerably larger than I would have liked. Unfortunately, the medium slim-cut goes too far on the other end of the spectrum.
The quality seems fine, otherwise, but the sizing is frustrating if you’re looking to buy a uniform that fits well and presents a professional appearance.

I purchased the large size shirt and had the body shortened to fit my 8/10 husky son. The sleeves are a little long, but not badly. I recommend Trail Life consider adding full cuts to the boys’ line.

Great quality shirt but sizes vary too much. Bought a XL SC about 5 years ago and put on a little weight. I was told that the sizes run small so purchased a 2XL FC. It was a tent on me so I purchased another shirt XL FC and it is still really big. I would need to tailor the shirt to get it fit. SO 3 shirts and still don’t have a good fit. (Normal XL shirts fit me perfect.)

We are happy with our uniform purchase! I know there was some confusion with sizing, so I thought I would share our experience in case it could be a help to others ordering.
My husband is consistently a large in t-shirts and dress shirts. We ordered him the Menās Medium Regular cut and it fits perfectly.
My son is consistently a size 7/8 boys in shirts and dress shirts, and we ordered him a Small Youth. It fits perfectly with a tiny bit of room to grow if anything.
I did reinforce all of the buttons with extra stitching because they did seem a little loose. There is also two extra buttons included with each shirt (sewed onto the back of the bottom right panel)
Over all, we are thrilled with our purchase! The quality is good, and the patches/stitching make my son feel official!

Shirt looks very nice but the fit is poor. I typically wear a large but the sleeves on this shirt are past my elbows and the shirt looks baggy. Iām not sure if the āslim fitā would have shorter sleeves but maybe sleeve length should be included in the measurements

I had measured my son at the suggested spots and ordered his shirt based on that. It was too small. I had a discount on that shirt. Now I have purchase a new one at regular price. Since exchanging it wasnāt an option. So, instead of returning it through the mail, I took it to his troop hoping someone may be able to use it. I find this process difficult and expensive.

I’m 5-6, 190 and wear a large button down shirt, polo, t-shirt, etc. All of my shirts are size large. This large sized uniform shirt fits me almost as big as an Extra Large button down would. The sleeves are a bit long as well. I’m hoping the dryer will shrink it over time. I really like the look and feel of it, but the fit isn’t what I expected. Maybe ordering a slim fit would help some folks, or either one size down. More specific shirt sizing information is definitely needed on this one.

The design of the uniform is fine, the material is stiff and thin, I see it falling apart with much use. As a class A uniform it will be fine though. The sleeves have a strange fit, they seem like theyāre 2 sizes larger than the shirt itself.

Followed the instructions for determining size and either I made a drastic error, or the size chart needs correction. The shirt delivered fits two of me, sleeves go midway to my forearms (speaking of a short sleeve) and the length almost reaches my knees; this is supposedly a MD/FC size shirt. Given that there is no return/refund/exchange policy I recommend that uniforms are sourced out to either a local store or the troops where customers may try the shirt for proper fit prior to purchase.

I received an email asking for a review but it didn’t specify the size so I’m not sure if this was for the shirt(s) I got for myself or my son. I’m generally happy, except that sizing has been inaccurate. My son’s a tiny kid. Going by the size chart, I got him a youth SM. I should have gotten and XS. It looked huge on him and when we tucked it in, the bottom of the pockets were under the belt line. The youth XS fits much better, but still a little big. For myself, I’m a tall and lean guy and always go with the slim fit option. It fit about how I expected in the body. However, the sleeves need some work… way too small. I had to have the bottom seam of both sleeves cut and a patch of material sewn in to be able to wear the shirt comfortably.

I tried on a 3X of another troop leader and it fit well. The “3X” I received hung on me like a tent! It’s more like a 4 or 5X. Very disappointed as I have to pay to ship it back. Very poor quality control on size on an otherwise good shirt. Trail Life must do better!

Male 35yo here. I have broad shoulders and thick arms with a bit of a belly, but normally a fitted shirt fits me well. I especially like the True Classic shirts because they’re cut with room in the gut and tight in shoulders and arms. However this shirt (ordered the LG/SC and XL/SC had nearly no change between these sizes and the sleeves were miniscule. The large made me feel like it was cutting off circulation to my hand. I had tried on a LG/FC at my troop and the sleeves and shoulders fit fine but it was a bit baggy around the middle. If the Slim Cut shirts had the same sleeves, these would be perfect. The sizing of the sleeve is ridiculously narrow and doesn’t encourage men to be manly and have beefy arms! I will return and order the XL/FC and have it tailored to fit my waist without too much fabric tucked into my ripstop pants.
Also, both shirts had loose threads and didn’t seem particularly well made, but I’ve seen these shirts hold up to a lot of abuse by trailmen in my troop.

The look of the uniform is great, but it is not the greatest material for Southern wear. The material is very thick and uncomfortable in the Southern Summer months. During hot campouts, people can’t wait for the end of flag ceremonies so they can hurry back to camp and remove the rip-stop tent fabric sticking to their skin.

Upon receiving this item after an excess wait, I found that it is comically oversized. The difference between the XL slim cut and full cut is too much. If you are too big for an XL slim cut then consider a large full cut. I hope it works out better for you than it did for me because there is no exchange policy and returns aren’t easy either. I am very dissatisfied with the service from the TL shop.

I usually am a little tight wearing menās medium and a little loose in a menās large. I went with menās medium full cut after taking measurements. The shirt when I got it was way to big and fit more like a menās medium XL, maybe XXL. I paid 10$ to ship back and ordered small full cut. It fits close but tight across the back. Quality of shirt looks good though.

We ordered two button up shirts, one for me and one for my son. We followed the sizing guide and measured one of my son’s button up shirts, but the shirt we received was two sizes too big. My shirt fit good, but one of the button holes was miss sewn. For the cost of the shirts, I would expect the sizes to be consistent and the quality to be top-notch.

The shirt quality is good and generally good design / shirt. However the sizing is very weird to say the least. I have 2x Medium: slim and regular. They’re miles different. The slim version is almost perfect, except the sleeves are extremely tight. The Regular Medium is just gigantic, way wider and baggier.

The shirts are very good quality. I am just disappointed in the price and sizing. I order a men’s thinking I would get it a little bigger to last longer since the price is not cheap. When I received it, it was way too big for my son. I returned it and reordered a youth xl. It fits pretty snug, and he won’t be able to wear it more than a year. Not only did I have to pay shipping twice for the 2 shirts I had to pay to return the first one. So, I was out even more money. As said on a below review, the quality of the shirt will definitely out last the fit of the shirt.

I am pleased with the quality of the shirt. It stands up well in the washing machine and air dries with minimal wrinkles. However, there is no give in this shirt. If you aren’t sure what size you will need, size up to the next largest size.
